New Chip and Advanced Audio Features
The current AirPods Max are pricey and miss some features of the cheaper AirPods Pro 2. However, the upcoming AirPods Max 2 are expected to address this. They might include the same H2 chip as the AirPods Pro 2. This would unlock advanced audio features like:
- Adaptive Audio: Blends Transparency and Noise Cancellation modes based on your surroundings.
- Conversation Awareness: Lowers the volume and focuses on voices when someone speaks.
- Personalized Volume: Adjusts the volume based on your environment.
iOS 18 will add more features. You can nod or shake your head to respond to Siri. It will also have voice isolation for calls and gaming. It will improve Spatial Audio for games. These upgrades will make the AirPods Max 2 a big improvement over the original.
USB-C Charging
Another big update is the switch to a USB-C port for charging, replacing the old Lightning port. This move aligns with Apple’s gradual shift to a universal charging standard. The AirPods Max 2 will join the AirPods Pro 2 and possibly the upcoming AirPods 4 in adopting USB-C.
New Colors

Smart Case Update

The original AirPods Max launched at a premium price of $549. With new competitors offering lower prices, will Apple keep the high price for the AirPods Max 2? While a price drop would be welcomed, Apple’s history suggests they might still charge a premium.
