Apple’s iOS 18 beta 5 introduces Distraction Control for focused browsing and major updates to the Photos app, with more customization options.
Apple has released the iOS 18 beta 5 for developers, bringing some exciting new features. This update, which follows beta 4 by just a couple of weeks, includes improvements to Safari and the Photos app. The stable version is expected to be available by mid-September.
iOS 18 New ‘Distraction Control’ Feature for Easier Web Browsing
iOS 18 beta 5 introduces a feature called ‘Distraction Control’ to make web browsing more focused. This tool helps remove annoying elements like login prompts and content overlays from web pages, allowing users to concentrate better on what they’re reading. To use it, simply go to the Page Menu in the Smart Search field and select ‘Hide Distracting Items.’ You can choose which elements to hide, and if you need to see them again, just tap the hide icon and select ‘Show Hidden Items.’ This feature can be particularly useful in many situations.

Major Changes in the Photos App
The Photos app has received a significant update in iOS 18. Apple has made several changes based on user feedback, including a new home view with more customization options. You can now reorganize your photos and give the app a personalized look. The carousel view has been removed to simplify the interface, and the “All Photos” area is now displayed in a larger grid. Additionally, the “Recently Saved” content has been merged into the “Recent Days” category, and photo albums have been reorganized to be more user-friendly, especially for those with multiple albums.
