Apple’s September 9 event will unveil the 11th-gen iPad and 7th-gen iPad mini with new chips, potential fixes, and exciting features like Stage Manager.
Apple, based in California, is set to unveil two new iPads this fall, likely at its September 9th event. The updates include the 11th-gen entry-level iPad and the 7th-gen iPad mini. Both have been stagnant for two years.
iPad (11th generation)
Apple wants to cut production costs for the new base iPad. It’s unclear if this will lower prices or boost profits. The current iPad features the A14 Bionic chip. The next model might upgrade to the A16 chip or even higher, breaking Apple’s usual cycle.
iPad mini (7th generation)
The 6th generation iPad mini revamped its design and added new features. However, it lacks some upgrades found in newer models. The 7th generation should catch up. It may support the Apple Pencil Pro. The A18 chip will boost performance. It will add advanced Siri and Genmoji. Yet, these features might not be available immediately.
The iPad mini 6 had a “jelly scrolling” issue. While unconfirmed, there are hopes for a fix in the next model. The upcoming iPad mini is likely to start with 128GB of storage, matching the latest iPad Air. However, the price will probably remain at $499.
There’s buzz about adding Stage Manager, a multitasking feature, to the new iPads. The A16 chip might support it, and the A17 and A18 chips surely will. This would make the new iPads more appealing, but it’s still just talk for now.
