Apple’s upcoming Siri update with iOS 18, featuring faster responses, smarter integration, and new tools. Learn what’s coming and when to expect it.
Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter says Apple may release its new Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence, sooner than expected. The full experience may not launch right away. But, we could see some new features roll out sooner than expected.
When will Apple release the new Siri?
Gurman updated us on when to expect Apple Intelligence features. This includes a major overhaul of Siri. Before, we expected the new Siri experience to arrive with iOS 18.4. Yet, new details suggest some features could be in iOS 18.3, launching in January. Apple usually releases its “x.3” updates in January, while “x.4” versions arrive in March.
Timeline for iOS 18 Releases
Gurman also revealed the iOS 18 development timeline. He hinted at when various updates would be available.
- iOS 18.1: It should finish internal testing by mid-October. A public release will follow shortly after.
- iOS 18.2:We expect Apple to complete iOS 18.2 in early November, and it is likely that the release will occur in December.
- iOS 18.3:Apple is set to complete iOS 18.3 by the end of the year and will release it in January.
- iOS 18.4: Expected to be ready by February and released in March.
Each update will add key features. They are part of Apple’s plan to improve Siri and other Apple intelligence tools.
What’s new in iOS 18?
Here’s what we expect each version of iOS 18 to bring:
- iOS 18.1: The first step toward Apple Intelligence. It has a new Siri interface, faster responses, and writing tools. It can clean up photos and summarize notifications.
- iOS 18.2: It will likely add exciting features, like Image Playground, Genmoji, and ChatGPT.
- iOS 18.3: It could be the update that transforms Siri. It would make her smarter, more intuitive, and better at understanding context.
By early 2024, Siri should evolve into a true personal assistant. It should handle complex tasks, understand speech errors, and integrate with other apps. It must also recognize what’s on your screen in real time.
Why the rush?
Apple seems to be speeding up Siri’s release, likely due to customer demand. The iPhone 16 lineup was heavily marketed with features that rely on the new Siri. Many of those features aren’t yet available. By speeding up the release, Apple hopes to keep its promises. It wants to provide a better user experience, and soon.
