Google Introduces Pixel 9 Series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL Now Available in India
Google has launched its latest flagship smartphones—the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. These phones are now available in India, keeping the company’s promise.
The Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 2,700 nits. The Pixel 9 Pro features a slightly larger 6.3-inch 1.5K display, also with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ screen, both with up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, which is 25% brighter than the previous models.
All three smartphones are powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip and come with the Titan M2 Security chip. The Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL have improved cooling with a vapor chamber. They run on Android 14 and will receive 7 years of OS and security updates. The Pixel 9 series also features Satellite SOS in the US.
The Pixel 9 has a polished back with a satin-finished metal frame, while the Pixel 9 Pro models come with a silky matte back and polished metal frame. Both have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection and are rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
Camera Features:
The Pixel 9 and 9 Pro series feature a new 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). The Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL also include a 48MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 42MP front camera with autofocus. The Pixel 9 has an 11MP front camera carried over from the Pixel 8.
These phones offer various camera features such as Astrophotography, Portrait Mode, Face Unblur, Long Exposure, Action Pan, and Real Tone. They also support 8K video recording at 30 FPS with Video Boost and up to 20x Super Res Zoom in Night Sight Video or Video Boost.
The “Add Me” feature lets you take a group photo and then swap places with someone to include yourself in the shot. The Magic Editor can help you reimagine photos by describing what you want, while Zoom Enhance improves zoomed-in photos with AI-generated details.

Pre-orders for these phones begin at 12 noon on Flipkart and at over 150 Croma and Reliance Retail stores across 15 cities in India, starting August 14th. The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will be available from August 22nd, with the Pixel 9 Pro available later.
