the iPhone 16 series, including a Capture button, larger screens, camera upgrades, and the A18 Pro chipset.
What to Expect from the iPhone 16 Series
Leaks and rumors have revealed much about the iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max. Apple hasn’t confirmed anything yet and probably won’t until September. Still, we have a good idea of what to expect.
iPhone 16 New Features
Capture Button
One of the most exciting additions is the new “Capture” button, expected on all four models. This button will likely be used to take photos and videos. You might be able to swipe across it to zoom, press lightly to focus, and press harder to capture a photo or start recording. This would make it a more powerful feature than the current Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro models.
The Capture button should be under the power button on the right side. The Action button will remain on the left, available on all models this time.
Bigger Screens for Pro Models
The Pro models might get larger screens. The iPhone 16 Pro might grow its display from 6.1 to 6.3 inches. Similarly, the iPhone 16 Pro Max could expand from 6.7 to 6.9 inches. This would make the Pro models larger than the non-Pro ones. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will remain at 6.1 and 6.7 inches, respectively.
Larger screens will enhance video viewing and provide more space for apps and games. If the bezels are smaller, the phones’ overall size might not be much larger than the current Pro models.
Camera Upgrades
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus may not see significant camera upgrades, but the Pro models might. The iPhone 16 Pro could get a 12MP 5x optical zoom camera, an improvement from the iPhone 15 Pro’s 12MP 3x zoom. Additionally, it might feature a 48MP ultra-wide camera, replacing the current 12MP sensor.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max might feature a 48MP ultra-wide camera and a new main sensor, also 48MP but better. There’s talk of a “super telephoto” lens with over 10x zoom, but this is uncertain.
The Pro models could appeal to photography fans. The main and ultra-wide cameras are improved.
New Chipset
The iPhone 16 Pro models will likely have a new A18 Pro chipset. This chipset is significantly more powerful than the A17 Pro in the iPhone 15 Pro models. Furthermore, it may also boost the iPhone 16’s AI capabilities.
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus might get a simpler A18 chip or the A17 Pro from last year’s models. Either way, they would upgrade from the A16 Bionic chip. However, they would still lag behind the Pro models in performance.
