Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 series began on September 13 and are high globally. Analysts say the iPhone 16 Plus is the standout, with the biggest pre-order jump from last year.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are less popular. They have shorter delivery times and more stock.
iPhone 16 Series Pre-Order Demand:
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports strong interest in the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus. The iPhone 16’s pre-orders are up by 10%. The iPhone 16 Plus has surged by 48%, despite longer delivery times than the 15 Plus.
However, the series’ total pre-orders hit 37 million in the first weekend, a drop of 12.7%. The dip is mainly due to the Pro models’ lower demand.
iPhone 16 Series Potential:
Kuo suggests the lack of new features at launch might be a factor. Apple had announced upgrades like a smarter Siri at WWDC in June 2024. However, many will be delayed, with some arriving in the iOS 18.1 update next month.
Despite this, Kuo is optimistic. He believes sales will rise with the new features and during the holiday season. He expects Apple to ramp up efforts to boost Pro model sales.
In summary, the iPhone 16 series pre-order demand has been mixed. Yet, there’s hope for better sales with future updates and Apple’s strategies.
