Leaked benchmarks show MediaTek Dimensity 9400 excels in AI performance. Check out its octa-core setup and expected improvements over rivals.
Excitement is growing around new flagship processors. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 has now appeared on Geekbench. Instead of a typical CPU test, the results this time focus on AI performance.
The Dimensity 9400 scored 1,501 in Single Precision, 1,906 in Half Precision, and 1,793 in Quantized tasks on the AI benchmark. However, Geekbench’s AI tool is new. So, we lack comparison data against competitors like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
One key detail from the benchmark is that the Dimensity 9400 will have an octa-core CPU. It uses a three-cluster setup, featuring:
- 1 Cortex-X5 core running at 3.63 GHz for high performance
- 3 Cortex-X4 cores at 2.80 GHz for extra power
- 4 Cortex-A725 cores at 2.10 GHz for everyday tasks
The 3.63 GHz peak speed may seem low. It’s less than the rumored Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (4.32 GHz) and Apple’s A18 (4.04 GHz). However, previous leaks suggest the Dimensity 9400 will offer:
- 30% better performance
- 35% improved energy efficiency
- 40% AI performance boost
It is unclear if these improvements will help MediaTek keep up with Qualcomm and Apple. The wait may not be long. The Vivo X200 series is expected to be the first phone with the Dimensity 9400, launching in early October. The Oppo Find X8 series may follow, using the same chip.
