WhatsApp is replacing the green badge with a blue checkmark for verified accounts and adding Meta AI for enhanced group chat support.
WhatsApp Verification Update
WhatsApp is updating its verification process. The green badge for verified businesses and channels will now be a blue checkmark. This change aligns with Meta’s goal for a uniform look across Facebook and Instagram.
Benefits of the Blue Checkmark
The blue checkmark boosts trust by confirming a business’s identity. It helps users find real accounts and avoid fake ones. This makes interactions with verified accounts safer.

Introduction of Meta AI
Meta has also introduced Meta AI to WhatsApp. This feature was already available on other Meta platforms. Now, it can assist in group chats with:
- Planning
- Recommendations
Users can find Meta AI by looking for the blue-purple circle icon at the top of the app, once the update is available on their device.
Consistent Experience Across Platforms
The blue checkmark is now available across all Meta platforms. This change:
- Increases brand visibility
- Makes finding verified accounts on Facebook and Instagram easier
It also supports Meta Verified, Mark Zuckerberg’s service for business verification in select markets. According to WABetaInfo, the blue checkmark has replaced the green badge on WhatsApp for iOS users. Now, iOS matches Android, creating a uniform verification system across devices. This ensures a consistent experience for all users.
